The following statement is a summary of our services. If you require further information please call us on 01874 622709 or email ploughandharrowbrecon@gmail.com

PRE-ARRIVAL

There is a bus stop fifty metres from the Plough and Harrow with buses to Brecon, Cardiff, Hay on Wye, Hereford and Newtown.  Abergavenny train station is 23 miles away. Taxis can be booked from Brecon.

The Plough and Harrow is located in the village of Felinfach. There is parking for a limited number of cars at the front of the pub but side of the road parking or in a lay by is close by. There are no shops in the village but Brecon, 10 mins away, has a wide selection of shops.

We do respect our opening hours as confirmed by our Premises Licence (a copy is available behind the bar) and we ask our customers to respect our closing times, as we have families and older persons living within close proximity and we wish to ensure cordial relations with our neighbours and villagers, especially at night, so please respect those who may already be in bed.

ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES

On arrival the car parking is to the front of the property. The surface is generally level and laid to tarmac. There is limited space and we would ask customers to park parallel to other vehicles.

To the side of the property is a Beer Garden, accessed by steps, and a private vegetable/flower garden. Due to the nature of the Beer Garden we ask that children are supervised as there are steps, a greenhouse and river, which may present hazards to unsupervised children.

A children's playground is located in the centre of the village, about 150 yds from the Plough and Harrow, however we do not have a bespoke play area.

The outside of the pub is illuminated during night time opening but not throughout the night.

Access to the pub is to the front of the property.

MAIN ENTRANCE

The main entrance is from the car park. For those not able to walk far you may be dropped off before parking. There is a small 2 inch step at the front door. There is then flat stone flooring to the bar/dining/seating areas. The WC's are located up three steps with no hand rail.

PUBLIC AREA

With exception of the passage to the WC's and the entrance all the floors are tiled. Whilst customers in wheelchairs will have no problem entering the property the WC's are located up three steps and we do not have bespoke WC's for wheelchairs.

PUBLIC AREA – WCs

We have two sets of toilets accessed through the bar and up three steps.

BAR

The bar area consists of a mixture of sofas and movable chairs, some with and without arms. The height of tables varies between low, coffee tables and high, dining tables. The bar has seating for six as well as standing room.

Please note dogs are allowed in the bar area but not in the dining room.

DINING ROOM

We have a dining room to the rear of the property. This has seating for 14 people. The floor is stone and flat.

BEDROOMS

The bedrooms are accessed via carpeted stairs with a hand rail on one side and a right hand turn at the top. The landing is carpeted with a six inch step to the Double (Glas) and twin (Gwyrdd). The suite (Golygfa Mynydd) has a six inch step down to the bedroom. All rooms are carpeted and centrally heated. A TV, hairdryer and beverage tray is supplied in all rooms. Free Wifi is available. Fresh milk is available on request. Each bathroom has a tiled/laminated floor. The showers all have steps into them.

MENUS AND DRINKS

As a small country pub with one cook there are choices for all diners. All food is prepared to order and therefore a longer wait than usual may occur at busy times . We request your patience at these times. With regards to special diets/requests please contact us to discuss the options. We don't have a specific children's menu but we do have a Smaller Appetite menu which is available to all.

We welcome all customers and if customers have trouble reading our menu we will be happy to go through it with them. Large print menus can be emailed on request.

We ask that customers with any dietary requirements including food allergens or intolerance make this known at the time of ordering so that the cook is aware of any issues when preparing your order.

If a customer requires further information on the ingredients in our menu items please ask. We have a small kitchen and whilst every endeavour will be made to ensure the food is prepared safely, customers need to highlight any issues to the person taking the order. During quieter times the cook will be happy to discuss this directly with customers.

We serve real ale, lagers, ciders and spirits as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee and decaffeinated options. We have a range of 8-10 single malts, including Penderyn Whiskies.

GROUNDS AND GARDENS

We have a waist high fence in the Beer Garden, however children will still need to be supervised as it is next to a river. The area is accessed via steps but is the level with paving. Flower pots and baskets are located around the area. Table are available throughout the summer. Smoking is permitted in this area and we ask that ashtrays are used. The area is not lit at night.
